The Technology Centre “tz2” is operated by the Vienna Business Agency. It has been part of the ultra-modern research environment of ASCR since 2019, providing 5,600m² of additional office space. The building was constructed in line with the passive house standard and provides space for offices and development laboratories. It is home to 25 innovative companies and start-ups.
The tz2 offers the first ever opportunity to research the requirements of a commercial property during ongoing operations. ASCR was involved in an advisory capacity during the planning phase and developed a digital building twin using building information modelling (BIM) after the building had been completed. The digital planning and alignment process facilitates sustainable construction methods and more cost-efficient use.
The tz2 is also outfitted with a combined heat pump and cooling unit; the heating and cooling systems are operated via concrete core ceiling activation. Photovoltaic modules have been installed on the roof and integrated into the facades to allow commercial tenants to participate in a tenant electricity model. The energy thus generated is dynamically allocated to the consumers at any given point in time.
